From inside the mind of the author while writing "The Louisa Saga"

It isn't that I got tired of practicing law. I've always viewed myself as a writer. In fact, I went to law school as a means of writing while being paid. I was skeptical of being signed by a major publishing house--and did I really want that? I also hated deadlines, so journalism was out. So, for a long while (over 20 years) I was an attorney. And, I wrote and edited as a "side gig."

Finally, though, it was time to get serious about being a writer full-time. I chose to tackle a subject I always wanted to explore: the lives of my ancestors, beginning with John DuBois. I thought it more interesting to have his wife as the vessel than John himself. As I reflected more, I found it useful to incorporate history, philosophy, religion, social commentary, humor, spirituality, and spousal relationships.

I envisioned the Louisa books as a series. I knew I had a lot of material to cover. At first, I planned a trilogy, but very quickly I realized it was a double-trilogy, or a set of six books.

This blog explores not just the books themselves, but the "how" and "why" of creating them. Be sure to subscribe below. And.....Enjoy!
